When I saw the new roller ball travel versions of Everyday Minerals eye shadows, I knew it was time to place another order. The thing is, ever since receiving these I’m not saving them for travel at all because I like them so much!
Cardamom is described as being “like sands on a beach with pearl like effects” which is certainly pretty prose but not very helpful when buying on-line. Let me help you visualize it better: it’s a shimmery, fleshy champagne with pink undertones. For those of you with EDM On The Phone, it’s similar but more pigmented and less sparkly. Cardamom is silky, understated and easy to blend and is becoming my go-with-everything lid shade.
Nutmeg is described as a “perfect matte taupe with gray undertones” and I completely agree with the first part of that sentence. But being the taupe-a-holic I am I would say it has gray and mauve undertones. You know that Bobbi Brown Stonewashed Nudes palette? Maybe you heard about it when it came out a couple of years back – it was kind of popular. Anyway, this is a close dupe of Stonewash, but Nutmeg has more pigment. Stonewash is a limited addition shade only found in that palette and, of course, it LOVE it. I’d even been lamenting about using it up some day. Well, now I have a ramped-up version of one of my favorite crease shades with no more worries about that.
The roller ball packaging was what had me originally intrigued because I travel fairly often and don’t take along any loose powders to avoid mess. What I’ve found is, the roller ball makes them easy for every day, too. I sometimes apply the shadow straight onto lids with the roller ball then blend and it goes on smoothly this way. But for more precision sometimes I’ll roll the powder onto a brush then apply to lids. I just have to be sure to tilt the bottle at about a 45-degree angle to get product onto the ball and this works perfectly.
The most interesting fact is that the roller ball holds .03 oz./1 g. of eye shadow for $4.50. A mini container (which is the largest size they carry for eye shadow) holds .03 oz./1 g. of eye shadow for $6.50. Frugalistas rejoice at getting the same amount of product for less money! Even though EDM eye shadows are a bargain, anyway.
I give the packing an A and the shadows themselves an A+. They last all day for me over primer and give me some of my prettiest every day looks while providing a good base for night time looks, too.
Just a side note: I also got a roller ball version of Multi-Tasking Concealer and it makes application quick and easy too. I just dot and blend!
