I’m typically a pressed shadow fan but Everyday Minerals (EDM) eyeshadows have become some of my favorites. I have On The Phone (fleshy shimmer with pink undertones), Wild Flowers (matte taupe with purple undertones), After Party (tan-brown with gold shimmer) and Matinee (gray-lavender with opalescent shimmer). After Party and Matinee were limited edition shades so I’ll only be reviewing On The Phone and Wild Flowers here.
On The Phone is a more sparkly than shimmery – but not overly so – neutral base that helps my eyes look brightened and awake. To my eye it’s along the lines of Stila Kitten in color but without the high frost. Wild Flowers makes the perfect crease shade over On The Phone or any other light shimmer eyeshadow. I have at least a dozen taupes but this has more purple to it than my others so it’s different for me. I’ve tried it as an eyeliner but it ends up not being deep enough for my taste and makes me feel washed out. But it may work for someone else who likes a more natural looking liner.
The texture of these is fine and silky, and they blend well if I use either a primer or dust on some finely milled face powder first. Even with primer I find they last just about 5 hours before some creasing begins, and I don’t have especially oily lids. So I only use these when I know I can touch up midday or if I’m only going to be out for a few hours after applying.
I love the look of these shadows but because of the creasing before my work day is over, I must give them a B. But I will still use EDM shadows because of the beautiful shades they offer and the nice looks I get from them.
Everyday Minerals eyeshadows come in 10ml ($6.50) jars and a travel friendly rollerball ($4.50), and can be ordered on-line at www.everydayminerals.com.
