Certain eyeshadow shades make my blue eyes really stand out and taupe is one of them. Bobbi Brown's Heather Mauve Shimmer Wash, unlike it's name suggests, is a shimmery silver-taupe so I was drawn to it immediately. Afterall, a girl can never have too many taupes! Its shimmer isn't as fine as some of Bobbi's other Shimmer Washes I own, but has just a touch more sparkle to it. Plus it feels more soft and creamy when applying it. I'm glitter-phobic but the extra sparkle in Heather Mauve isn't too much for me. It looks appropriate for work but can be glam enough for an evening out. I find it pairs well with Cement or the matte shadows in the Mauve Face palette, adding a little zing to those. (It's the third shadow from the left in the above palette)
In a side-by-side swatch comparison, Heather Mauve is very similar to Ash Shimmerwash, another of my favorites. On Bobbi Brown's website, the color swatch there makes it appear that Heather Mauve has way more pink to it than Ash, but I don't see it that way. To my eye, Ash is the tiniest bit pinker and about one step lighter, plus it has none of the sparkle.
Heather Mauve is a very welcomed - and quickly becoming beloved - addition to my neutral-biased eyeshadow collection and so I give it an A+. It can be purchased for $20 at www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com and www.nordstrom.com.
