Like any respectable beauty addict- I love trying new mascaras but I do have to take some care.
I have ubber sensitive eyes and while I love the lush lashes I get from Dior Show and other mascaras with plus sized wands, I just can't use them on a daily basis. Most of the higher end lengthening and volumizing mascaras contain fibers that irritate the heck out of my eyes. I am not saying I won't wear them on a special occasion but the irritation I get (usually within a couple hours of application) is tough to deal with.
For the most part I stick with natural based mascara formulas, even if the drama isn't as intense.
A couple I really like are: 100% pure fruit based mascara (blueberry is a great one) and Bare Escentuals Flawless Definition mascara (espresso and black are both fantastic).
Quite a few months back Sephora offered a lovely gift for beauty insiders - a collection of Tarte Cosmetics all star products. One of the deluxe goodies in the package was their Lash Hugger mascara. I realize mascara is a very personal beauty product because we all have different needs. I was pleasantly surprised that Lash Hugger is a really nice mascara and I have been enjoying my little deluxe wand so much- I ordered a few full sized tubes!
What I like about it:
It's totally non- irritating to my eyes and doesn't flake too much on me until the end of the day.
It's not too wet formula doesn't wilt my curled lashes and seems to hold the curl quite satisfactorily.
It's a nice black tone- not the richest black on the block but nice none the less.
The manageable brush is not what I would consider lush or a triangle type brush (broad at the bottom narrowing at the top) but a little unique. It almost has a wave shape which seems to help with grabbing nearly every lash. This makes it easier for me to apply the formula to my bottom lashes fairly easily without making a terrible mess.
I can get a a little bit better than a natural look with this mascara (decent length but not a lot of volume) with a few coats. I also enjoy the fact Lash Hugger is not overly clumpy.
It's formula is for the most part clean and not loaded with a bunch of irritants.
Tarte doesn't test on our furry friends and their packaging is for the most part pretty green (they love to use loads of recyclables).
Lash Hugger is easily removed at the end of the day with any of my regular facial cleansers.
I have noticed my lashes seem to be in better shape since I started using Lash Hugger.
Lash Hugger mascara gets a B+ grade from this picky beauty addict.
I think the full price ($18) is a little on the high side but I will continue to purchase Lash Hugger because I can depend that it will not irritate my eyes and gives my lashes a little oomph.
I purchased my Lash Hugger from Tartecosmetics.com but Sephora carries it as well
