The convenience of one product with a dual ended concealer and highlighter lured me in to purchasing Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Double Face Perfector in shade Light. The price was certainly reasonable at about $8, so I figured why not give it a try.
One end is a neutral-toned concealer with a creamy consistency that’s not too thin or too thick and blends well with my NC20, Bobbi Brown Sand coloring. The other end is a sheer, peachy flesh toned highlighter that helps lighten dark circles, yet it isn’t really a highlighter because there’s no luminescence that I can detect. However, the shade alone makes a noticeable improvement. Both products are pretty decent and I would like using them except for one major flaw: the packaging sucks.
The first few uses had me thinking I’d found a fantastic drug store buy. But I soon had to contend with too much product coming out on each wand so that I had to wipe some off my skin and the wands. Then extra product began oozing out of the tubes when I’d twist them shut and getting all over my fingers, counter and, basically, everywhere. Over time it’s gotten worse, not better. So I’ve tried wiping the entire tube off after each use but there is so much to clean up it's become obvious using it isn’t convenient at all…which is why I bought it to begin with. So I’m still looking for a high quality concealer and highlighter in one tube which, in theory, should make getting ready that much quicker and easier. Apparently good packaging really does matter for certain things.
The product inside Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Double Face Perfector gets a B from me, but the faulty packaging brings it down to a D+ and leaves me deciding whether to toss it or not. It can be purchased at drugstores.
